I've read a few post and I guess my truck might be idling to high to begin with, when im sitting in traffic the truck idles in drive at 900 RPM and with the AC on it goes up to 1000 RPM.

The issue is that while sitting in traffic the idle will suddenly drop to 400/500/600 rpm and if I dont hit the gas the engine will turn off. If I rev the engine I can keep it on, also this happened occasionally at first now it happens on a daily basis. Anyone know what could cause this ?

 

Check to make sure your battery connections aren't loose or corroded. Wouldn't hurt to try a new battery either.

 

I had a kind of similar issue with the idle jumps and chug-n-dies.. After replacing my TPS and IAC worked perfectly fine.. Took 19 minutes to replace both parts in Advance Autos parking lot.. Ordered the parts off their website with the coupon code VISA (30$ off 100$) and went and picked up in store.. Total about 76$

TPS solved the idle jumping issue, and the IAC resolved the dieing at my first stop while it was still warming up.

Do you notice if the engine is using any oil? Two related issues could be the intake plenum gasket is blown or the PCV valve. I've had more than one hair jerker caused by an aftermarket or dirt/stuck PCV valve!

 

plenum gasket is not an issue on the 4.7, only on the 5.2/5.9l engines

 

+1 I've had bad battery connections give me all kinds of problems before including stalling as the op is describing

 

I agree here, check all the connections on the battery for corrosion and tight as well as the tps and iac. In my situation i needed a new battery and a tps. Weak battery caused my truck to die everytime the rpms fluctuated. Changed the battery and it only stalled once a week til i replaced the tps.
