Default 00' Durango 4x4 Question

I just got my 00 durango about a month ago and i was wondering why my 4 wheel drive lights dont show up on my cluster guage when its in 4wd. Is there a sending unit of some sort that gets sent out??? The 4x4 works perfect but id like to know why the lights dont show up. Thanks guys!

I would also check the range sensor on the T-case.

yup one of the two, or a bad connection on the range sensor, but pretty simple system so should be pretty easy to locate the issue.

On my 03 with the switch on the dash, There is no instrument cluster light for 4WD just the little light on the switch. Didn't really want an electric 4WD shift..but I haven't had any trouble with it at all.

My '99 D has the same problem.
It doesn't light up when the dash flashes at start up so I have never seen it.
I don't even know for sure where it is in the cluster.

Check when you turn the ignition on to see if the indicator light flashes.
That i think would be your first step.
If not then most likely the bulb is out.
Then you need to decide if it's worth pulling the dash apart just to replace it.

Good luck.

A 1999 with a manual shifter is different then a electric shifter in the late 2000 - 2003 models.

But yea, replace the range sensor on your 1999.
