He means he used the wrong wire and I'm assuming the insulation rubbed through and caused a nice short.

 

I used house hold type slip wiring. One clear and one clear/stripped. It was the cheap crap that you used to see around 20 years ago, most likely you weren't around at that time so you have no understanding of what I was referring to.

Doesn't matter, household speaker wire is not compliant with moisture, movement, or anything automotive electronic. See you might not think there isn't a difference, but you don't understand what your talking about.
