Default Rearend swap on 4x4

Hi, I'm the orig owner of a 2000 Durango SLT , 4.7, 4x4, 180K miles. I had the leaking rear pinion seal changed by a shop about 3K miles ago and I believe they screwed up my differential when they did it. Rear is binding now, looks like they probably tightened it down too much. I took the cover off and had a good size chunk of metal on the magnet. Rather than messing with a rebuild, I ordered a complete new 9.25 rearend on eBay from a donor 00 Durango 4x4 w/ 92K miles, 3.55 gears for $400 to my door, arriving tomorrow. Well, I just found my orig window sticker when I bought my Durango and my current rear has the 3.92 optional gears. My question is, can I swap the entire rearend with the 3.55 rear or is that going to cause problems because it's 4 wheel drive?

a 4x4 needs to have the same gear ratio in both front and rear axles.

so since your truck has 3.92 rear end gears in it from the factory you need to put another one into it with 3.92 rear end gears.

Yep, or re gear the front. I would go get a good 3.92 r&p out of a junker and put it on the new one or just sell the new one and buy the a new one with the correct r&p.

Thanks to you all, I was afraid that was the answer but good thing I found out before I installed it.
