So long story short I was out n no mans land with buddys dakota and my d..I went down the big hill and made it threw the thick washed out part.while climbing out rut I was sling shotted into a log i didnt see.Hit the tire dead on the flat surface.forced me to a stop and popped the steering shaft off!1 hr later,we are up and moving again,no i don't have power steering.there is a clunk behind firewall,and a bit of play towards center.There re no leaks,and my tires squeel going own road and really bad over bumps and turning!Any ideas to some of problems>

 

also forgot to mention i have been experiencing rough start ups and restarts...can feel engine almost missing,,new plugs,oil,trans fluid,cleaned tb month ago,checked tps and batt..

 

Lots of details of the events, not enough info about the symptoms... Take a deep breath and describe the symptoms.

 

haha.ok while driving down road..steering wheel off(intermediate shaft out one turn)..both tires squeel like toes out,there is a clunk behind the wheel.pulls a bit to left then when i hit a bump or defect in road, tires want to take off one way like ball joint really bad then shoot back.feels like its all inner problems..almost looked drunk coming home

 

Problem 2:

also for the last week i have been having rough starts and restarts. I did plugs,oil,tb cleaned,checked tps,battery test running and not hooked up,fuel pressure seems good.Seems like i have bottom end power loss and have to put petal down to far just to kick down now.(output speed sensor tranny)?

for the steering issues it sounds very similar to what mine was going after i had jumped a curb, the parts that got replaced after this were

tie rod (inner and outer), both balljoints on that side and the wheel hub(this was on my to do list at the time anyway and was unrelated to the incident).

that is where i would start and after repairs it WILL need an alignment.

 

ball joints and outers are a month old,you think still? I got lifetimes so...hahah

 

also if it the rack too,what year will fit in my 2000,4x4 4.7l?also what about the no p/s problem?

 

1. Get the starter tested at AutoZone or your local parts counter. It sounds like something inside the starter (maybe the brushes) have been damaged due to the impact.

Starting problem is before accident,same with power loss(put foot farther down to kick down under 80km/hr)..what is tv cable?
