Default Leaf Spring Question

Alright guys, so I have figured out my springs are worn and sagging. At 171k miles, it is possible. I have gotten the ability to pick up a set of springs off of a wrecked 99 for $50 for the set. However, the gentleman I spoke with believes the springs were over axle mounted. I have under axle. What if anything do I need to change to make this swap? Do I need to weld new perches to the axle to make this work? This buy depends on your answers. I have been looking for good springs but didn't want to pay $300 for a set. I have been gathering all the parts to rebuild the suspension in the rear, and these springs are the last thing I need to buy before I start the project. Thanks Guys!

If you need pictures of my rear, let me know, I can post them in minutes.

no stock durango was ever spring over unless a lift kit was installed or replaced. Many a few people think the durango is spring over so he may be confused. If it was a kit installed i wouldnt go through the hassle of swapping. When i broke a spring i went with a Dakota +4 spring which matched my TS so stock shackle was used.

sweet thanks, yeah this guy already sold the rear and didn't sell the springs and he runs a salvage yard and wasn't looking at the truck. I started thinking after I posted and was like wait, if it is the same year..should be the same spring unless lift kit, but no lift kit was installed. Thanks!

Question, I have the springs, they look in good shape, going to wire brush the dust and little surface rust off of them, and paint them with black rust-o-leum and then coat it with acrylic enamel to help the paint last longer.

I am replacing the bushings, and bolts.

My question...There are 2 pieces of metal on the springs about middle between where they connect to the hangers and where it connects to the axle. These are loose and I would like to replace them. But I can not find the name of the part. Could it be Leaf Spring Insulators? Thanks in advance!

hahahaha, google just answer my question, I got fed up with looking so I left the computer. Came back to check the forum, and then started typing Leaf Spring in google and it said Leaf Spring Clamps? I looked, and viola, that would be them...

Are you talking about the U-Bolts? Yes you need to replace them.
