ASD = auto shutdown (refers to the relay in the PDC by this name)
TCM = transmission control module
FSM = factory service manual
PCM = powertrain control module (the main engine computer, ECM is different and not applicable in this case)
PDC = power distribution center, it is the black box under the hood containing fuses and relays.

also put your no-id kit on the pins at the PCM to figure out if the PCM is putting out the correct signal to the injector or if it behaves the same way as when you do it at the injector itself.

also can we all come down and stop being hostile???? i really dont want to lock this thread as it is an interesting problem and i would like to have the chance to work through to a solution in a civil manner. (there is NO REASON anyone should respond to this to appologize or try to explain themselves, just let it drop and everything will be fine)

when you get more information let us know, it would also help for reading diagrams in the future if you could share which PCM setup you have, 3 plugs or 4 plugs.

Thanks

shrpshtr325,
I will play nice. I do appreciate your assistance.

The PCM is a 3 plug.
I will try to use the noid's on the pin out of the PCM this weekend and advice.

Is it safe to assume that if the power is cutting out there like it is at the injector that the PCM is bad?

Or is there a different circuit that I can review as well?

i would not jump to the bad PCM, i would first go and check for signal at the coil plugs, i will check for any other control circuits and see what i can turn up for you.

Would a loose connection to the ignition switch/module cause the issue? I've never had to replace one in a dodge before. In a ford my buddy had have him issue with misfiring because of a ignition module. It was giving the coil spark but at random times it would take it away. The truck would sputter then all the sudden come to life, it was very odd and took me about 6 months to diagnose. Just a thought.

shrpshtr325,
Just to recap.
I replaced two coils that I was told were bad.
I moved them around to other positions.
Issues remained.

I have not checked for power to the coils but I have checked for power to the injectors with the NOID lights. Cyl 1 fires OK about 1 min and then cuts out.

I think the issue may be there, not the coils.

Mike,
I am told the ignition module is part of the PCM. Your prior issue of it sputtering and coming to life is exactly that of an intermittent connection, like a wire or ground issue. Mine is not. It runs and then turns off.

on the 4.7 there is not ignition module, there is a coil on each plug and the pcm tells it when to fire

I understand but I didn't know if maybe the ignition switch had a loose connection that might send weird signals to the PCM? Selkov I would think to maybe check the coils just in case, maybe the coils are failing and the PCM is detecting that shutting down the injector?

i have never heard of the PCM doing that master tech should be able to tell us if that is the case or not.

Me either, but I didnt know how "smart" (lack of a better word) the 4.7 edition of the D was. I like my old style Distibutor setups lol

Did a leak down test and it was blowing through the intake on cylinder 2.
Pulled the valve cover to find a loose rocker.
The lash adjuster was fused closed, replaced it with a new one.
Replaced the rocker but it either fell off again or the valve has an issue.

Is there anything I can do before pulling the head off to free it?
