Default Driveshaft

Alright guys, I am changing my u-joints this weekend on my rear driveshaft. my only question is, can I paint my DS and not hurt anything, Stupid question, but honestly want to check, I have epoxy paint that is salt and rust resistant and can heat up to 300*F. I know not to paint the end that goes into the tranny, other than that I am good right? Pretty sure I am, just wanting to make sure.

And yes I am wire brushing the shaft to knock the rust off

I would not see why you could not paint it.. often thought of doing it myself

Just keep the paint off of the yoke's wear surface. If you remove the trans or diff yokes replace the seals as well. You don't have to remove the yokes to do u-joints though. Also if you do remove them the best way to remove the lip that wears in is with a fine grit sandpaper/emery cloth. Just work a strip of it like you are polishing shoes. Oh and no you willl not hurt anything by painting the driveshaft.

definitely wont hurt anything, but its also unnecessary, iirc the driveshafts are treated in such a way that outer surface rusts and once it is rusted it seals off the internal metal from the elements protecting it from rusting any deeper than the surface.
