Default Code 0740

Hello. Hope someone can help. My durango just threw the code 0740 this morning on the way to work. Checked the transmission fluid... Full. Reset the computer and the light came back on. Fluid doesn't look bad. Everything shifts fine. Don't feel anything abnormal. It is a 2000 with the 4.7 awd. Thank you

Nothing eh? That sucks. Well light went off today by itself and hasnt come back on. So either way droppin the pan and changing fluid and filters and hope for the best. Not sure what else cause doesnt seem like theres a problem anywhere.

P0740-TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH CONTROL CIRCUIT

Could be that you need a filter change (2 on yours). There is no adjustment so good luck on that transmission. Replace the fluid with ATF+4 fluid only. I would also check the harness where it connects to the transmission for corrosion as well.

Just changed the fluid and transmission filters (both). Check engine light had gone off even before I decided to change everything. Got it all done and took it for a drive to make sure no leaks and levels are accurate and all that. On my way back home from the drive the check engine flashed the same code again. Still nothing seems abnormal so I'm confused now. Not sure what else to do.

Ill double check that again.. Just to make sure. But also a bit of an update. Just took it out again for grins to check a few things. Noticed that when I let off the gas at highway speeds or pretty much whatever speed it feels like im coasting. Like in neutral. Pushed the brake enough to make the lights come on but not really enguaging the brakes themselves and nothing. Still seemed like it was coasting. I let off the gas and the rpms drop just like it was in neutral. Dont know if that helps anyone but thanks for the replies. I just hope it isnt the tc itself cause that would bring alot of suck to the situation.

So is it sounding like I need to suck it up and replace the tc? Or does it sound like the sensors?

your description of how the truck behaves when cruising is the way it is supposed to behave, let off the gas and coast, the tc disengages allowing you to coast for a longer period of time hence saving gas, nothing wrong with that behavior.

also in my truck i can get the brake lights to come on w/o engaging the brakes, there is a very small bit of play between the lights coming on and the brakes grabbing, but it does exist because the lights go on when the pedal moves below a certain point.

Well not sure what's up but the check engine light goes off and on every couple days or so with the same code. Still nothing out of the ordinary though. Any insight?
