Default Removing factory Running boards

So I was thinking about taking off my Factory running boards to give my D some more ground clearance on the side. Good idea? I got mud flaps so I don't need them to protect the side of my D from rocks

I think they look better without. Mine never had them and I have had no issues. I can get in and out easily, and I don't have rot or rust...in fact I don't see how having the boards would offer extra protection.

I say remove them and be happy about it.

the running boards offer protection from road debris being kicked up and stuck to the doors, very similar to how mudflaps provide protection from dirt being kicked up

It really depends on what you use it for. Mine has never seen dirt roads, except for the beach a few times so I do not need the extra clearance and therefore I leave them on. Funny if I go mess around in the snow though because they fill up and become snow-holders. They do keep the truck cleaner! So basically if you have a clearance problem then do it, otherwise they are fine! Really now that I thought about it I cannot remember the last time I used it as a step to get in or out so that's not even an issue!

i took mine off because my rockers were all rusted and they were just flapping away when i drove down the road. but i like the way the truck looks without them on it gives the truck more depth and gives it that rugged look. but thats just my personal oppinion.
