Been searching around here on problems related to the one that we had with our Durango today and havent found anything yet. So I will go ahead and get started on explaining what happened today. My wife and I pulled into a restraunt to grab some lunch. She found a parking spot and we got out and she hit the lock button on the factory security system remote and the doors would not lock at all. I thought well no big deal the batteries in the remote might be dead and that we could lock the doors with the door panel lock switch. Opened the door mashed the lock switch and nothing happened??? She tried to start the motor and it started up, but immediately died. tried it again and same thing happened. Tried it once again and by this time all the fuel is burned up in the injectors and we are just not getting any gas. So I pop the cover off the fuse box on the left side of the dash and all the fuses are good. Pop the hood and look at the fuses under the hood, they all are good. I swapped one of the relays around that said it was for the fuel pump and still this did nothing for us. We go inside to eat and give the Durango (and myself) a break to cool down. Got done eating and came out and tried it again, still nothing. Motor will turn over just won't fire off and the door locks will not work with either the door panel switch or the remote.

Anyone else had this type of problem? Any and all clues or pointers will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

Dead battery maybe?

I'm thinking that the alternator is shot and you aren't charging the battery so there is no life in it safe enought to kick the starter over a few times. You may also have a PCM problem and I truly hope that isn't the case. Check the elctrical charging system first.

 

The starter turns the motor over just fine. The motor just won't fire off. It seems like we are not getting any gas at all. Also the door locks will not cycle with the keyless entry remote or on the switch on the door panel. No error code is present on the odometer either. I am not sure if it might have something to do with the factory installed security system.

 

you probably have it fixed by now but when the voltage on the durango battery gets below 7 volts, it shuts off the fuel. I bet if you tried starting it with the pedal mashed, it would fire, then you would have to baby the throttle for about 2 minutes, then it would idle.
