on mine it looks like it is just connected to the pump by the hard line, however it probably uses the same mount as the pump.
the ps return line connects to the cooler.

You can disconnect the cooler without removing the pump. One or two bolts and a hose. No need to pull the entire pump.

indys picture is different than the one on my truck (i have a 4.7l), however it looks like you only need to remove ONE of the ps pump mounting bolts on yours, mine is similar in theory but in a different position (i checked)

Could you take a picture of it on the truck? Does it mount on top of the pump or get sandwiched between the engine block and pump

When I did the power steering lines on my D - I removed the plastic guard under the front of the truck - the same one that you reach up through for the oil filter.

Takes maybe 5 minutes and it made it... ohhh... about 10 times easier to see.

The photo is a bit different SS because your 2002 would to be different based on year and the stated fact the 4.7 is a completely different PS setup. The diagram is from the FSM for a 1998 since his D is a 1998.

It just hangs off the bottom. Not mounted against the engine.

Ok that's what I did. I find it strange there are two holes for mounting on the cooler and only one got used
