"JEEP" doors on durango??
I want to "jeep" my doors on my 98 durango. apparently there is not a huge market for this because I can't seem to find a single thing about this. Thinki' I may have to fab the hardware myself. Anybody have any ideas or know of any companies with kits?
Even 1/2 doors are going to be DIY.
There are no Jeep doors that fit a D and there are no other doors Jeep or otherwise that fit a Gen1. All will be DIY.
With that said, it would be interesting to know what he has in mind.

When I had my 1978 Ramcharger and wanted to recreate the topless truck look of an old Scout II I found I hated the hoops at the top of the doors.
I bought myself a pair of spare doors and cut the hoops off and welded them to the removable hard top. Some clever rubber seal work and the whole things worked pretty good.
The next step was the Jeep door but I didn't want to have to unbolt and bolt another set of doors on and off so my Step Dad and I created a bolt on set of pin hinges that let me just lift the standard doors off and I started carving the second set of doors.
I left the jambs standard height, and scalloped out a low slung opening after removing the window and track. I had to delete the inside door handle but left the outside handle functional. It was fairly easy to hop in and out through the scallops.
In a newer truck, I think there are more hurdles, and since the top is not removable, I think it might look a bit odd. At the very least, I would not cut up your stock doors. Get a spare set, work on those, and come up with a way to interchange them quickly.

I've had the idea of making half doors for mine for about a month now since I helped a buddy make some for his jeep. I might start making some in the next week or so since my truck will be off the road for a month or so. I'll be sure to take pictures throughout the project and post them up.
No that would be rediculous.
