I've had my Durango for about 24hrs, lol, and already have a CEL.

P0302 - Cylinder 2 Misfire

Durango is running great still, I don't feel/hear any misfire and the idle is great.

The plan is to replace the plugs and coils, do you think that is a good starting point?

Thanks,
Ryan

Sounds like a good starting point. Make sure you use champion copper plugs or you'll keep having problems

Perfect, thanks for the confirmation.

An hour or so ago, I ordered:

8 Champion Copper Plugs, Part Number 439 ($1.80 ea)
8 Standard Motor Products Ignition Coils, Part Number UF270 ($19.79 ea)

From Rockauto.com.

Will keep you posted on results.

I was going to get fuel injectors too, but since they are about $30 each, decided to wait to see if this fix works.

that's the only problem I hate with any car...cylinder misfires. When I see those, if I can't fix it with doing the usual maintenance, I would just rather get rid of it. Had a 95 blazer that kept throwing misfire codes...I basically tore it down to the block, had it all machined, rebuilt the heads...after throwing $1400 at the motor alone...still had misfire code..I sold it.

the coils should not need to be replaced, only the plugs in 95% of cases

I already ordered both, so I'll just swap them all out when they arrive. I appreciate the info though!

Your fine, in fact it's one last thing you don't need to worry about, but yea it was probably un-needed as Sharps stated. Should take care of the issues tho.

I third the coils. You can usually look at them and tell if they need replacing, but most of the time they're still good. Nothing wrong with replacing them though, at least now you know they'll be new!

Thanks guys!

I can always resell the old coils on ebay, minus Cyl 2 incase it was bad.

Curious, how do I inspect the coils once off to determine if it's bad?
