Its something you can do yourself. Get a ball joint press from the auto store and if I were you the moog ball joints. Or can be done in an afternoon or it can take longer too

If the top ones are stock you will need an angle grinder or something to Carefully grind the rivets out. New one has bolts that slip through the old rivet holes. Problem i had was the bolts that came with my moog joints all stripped out at around 20 lb ft. Had to cut them off again and go to the hardware store for better bolts.

Are you positive your rad is topped off. If your water pump is getting worn, slimy, or what not it could not be moving enough water at idle.

since it only happens at idle i still lean towards a cooling fan issue over anything else, most likely a bad clutch fan, but it could also be bad electric cooling fan.

when you changed the thermostat did you properly burp the cooling system?? its a little bit tricky on that engine and takes time and patience.

as for checking clutch fan here ya go (the following link is also available in the FAQ thread stickied at the top of this board)

there is a bleeder valve on the 4.7l engines, if you didnt open it you did it wrong, you need to open that valve to let the air out, not the radiator cap.
