Why the hell is there red mesh in the rear washer bottle?
Cliff note:
Rear hatch wouldn't lock with the rest of the doors. I suspected the actuator so I took the panels off to see what was what.
Actuator was fine, latch was rusting and binding. Fixed that with some penetrating oil and grease.
Decided to delete rear wiper since it barley works and I never ever use it and on top of that the reservoir fill cup was funneling rain waiter into the reservoir and when it filled up it just flooded the storage compartment.
Removed the wiper arm, motor, tubes, and after fighting with the side panel I got the washer bottle out. I tend o keep parts like this in case I want them for other projects so I removed the pump and fill tube adapter...and this is what I found IN the reservoir.

My only guess would be to keep the washer fluid from sloshing around.
Anyone else know or understand why it would be in there? The bottle itself was probably sealed very well from the factory and it's only been leaking on me for the last few years. If it's sealed well, would the mesh keep the fluid from sloshing to the point where it wouldn't leak out?
Just seems odd and I can't wrap my head around why they would go to the trouble of doing that.
