New Guy
I ran a pipe from the stock airbox and put it through the rubber between the radiator and the passenger's side headlight. There are a few threads on diy intakes over in the DIY section.
Awesome.
In regards to temp, the thing only reaches MAYBE 180 when it's sitting in the sun idling on the pavement in the hottest part of the day. When I get driving the thing cools to about 120-140 ... I'll take a picture. It's crazy.
Anyways, looked under the hood on the sticker ... and I started to grin like an idiot. 5.9! I'm ecstatic it's the 360ci. So now, for fun power but still keeping the highway gas mileage number at about 24-26 ... any cool mods? I'm fairly mechanically inclined, I owned a Land Rover once for all those that know.

that's not good for the temp to be that low. you probably have a bad thermostat.
Yeah, I think it might be stuck open. I know if the engine doesn't get up to temp, then it actually performs less that optimal. It's bizarre, though. Correction to the temp thing, though. It runs at about 140-170. Making me believe they put a "it runs cooler!" after market 160 thermostat, versus the 210 OEM one. Ugh.
But I definitely am going to do SOMETHING about that intake. It's killing me every time I look at it and hear the engine wheezing for more air. Especially with that high-flow exhaust.
Also, believe it or not, I've never had this happen to me before:
Yesterday, while driving, my left turn signal blinker started blinking really fast whenever I used it. Is that a fuse? Like I said, I never encountered that before in any other vehicle, because it never happened to me ... until now.

OEM was 195 as stated above, 180 is the preferred temp for those engines

you have bulb burnt out on that side, check carefully bc there are multiple bulbs in the front housing
is that number in MPG??? bc if so your math is WAYYYYYY off, none of these trucks can get over 20-21 mpg cruising on the open highway. and those lucky people have the 4.7, the 5.9 tends to drain the gas tank like a frat boy does a keg
if its not mpg what are the units on those numbers?

I agree, what number is that?
Even brand new I never saw anything even close to that.
Big...big, tires will affect the accuracy of the speedometer and the computer that determines DTE and MPG.
I kid you guys not. Thing reads at 24-26 MPG. It's a stock truck. Cruise control, 60mph, flat land. Inbetween our town and the next town over. I didn't believe it either. Now my AVERAGE is somewhere between 11-14 MPG total. But on the highway, the thing purrs.
the overhead MPG readout is DEAD WRONG!!!!!!!!!!! only fools trust that thing to give them accurate numbers.
it is manageable as a guide to compare how you are doing tank to tank but is not by any stretch accurate. hell mine reads 99 mpg once in a while does that mean im getting 99 mpg?? hell NO, i get around 19 doing 100% highway driving and around 17 back and forth to work and somewhere around 15-16 city with the 4.7.

I agree. Calculate your MPG like people did before computers that supposedly tell us what it is.
Just keep your receipts or make a log. You can learn a lot about logging your mileage, capacity, and costs.
