Default 01 4.7 4x4 shuts off and I am stumped

Good evening fellow D owners. I first obtained my 01 Durango in October of last year. During the course of my ownership, with the help of this site, I have replaced the oxygen sensors (Denco), spark plugs (Champion copper), TPS, IAT sensor, IAP sensor, crankshaft position sensor, camshaft position sensor, PCM (2x), fan clutch, radiator fan, and even the radiator itself. I have cleaned the throttle body and fuel injectors.

Over the course of a month, my D has started cutting off while driving and only starting up after sitting for a good amount of time. An error code P0601 was the cause of my replacing the PCM. When I first replaced the PCM, the back of the grey plug popped off but I was able to place it back on with the pins in the correct location. Not even a day later my vehicle began shutting off on me. After checking different power sources, all roads led to the PCM. The PCM was purchased from All Computer Resources on Ebay, so I was able to exchange it with no problems. Replaced the PCM and everything seemed fine for a day or so.

More troubleshooting revealed that my fuel pump was going out. I was getting less than 41psi. Replaced the fuel pump and go on a long test drive and the vehicle was fine....until later that day. My vehicle shut off again at a stop light and took a few hours to start back up.

Now when I do get the vehicle to start, if it starts, it will cut off while idling. I've checked for vacuum leaks, etc and I am currently stumped.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!

Not sure if this will help I had a Ford back in the day would shut down like that after about 1000 bucks I got so sick of it I junked it. (Or so I thought) At one point thepos had Ben stolen and the ignition was bad and would cause it to shut down. On a side note the douche*** who said he was going to be scraping it (our FORMER "mechanic") fixed the ignition and not two weeks later I see the crapheap driving around.

check the battery connections and the battery itself. not sure with the 4.7, but you should probably check the iac too

with the lack of any further error codes, my guess is the PCM or more likely a connection issue at that plug you spoke of. Can you zip tie it into place to be sure it is not moving?

Both battery connections are good as well as the battery. I replaced the IAC recently as well as cleaned the throttle body and the IAC port. One of the first things I did a month ago was zip tie the plug to the PCM, but that didn't help.

Could a coil pack cause the shut off. When I do get the vehicle started, I'll rev up it up for a while. At 6000 rpms it will start to shake/misfire.

6k rpms you are probably hitting the rev limiter (if you are in park im surprised that it will rev up that high, the rev limiter is usually lower while in park). cant make a call based on a diagnosis at such high rpms considering that these trucks really have no reason to be wound up that high.

as for coil packs causing stalls, im sure that they could if there were a couple of bad ones in order, but i would not expect a single bad coil to stall it out.

@selkov That seems to be the issue...I wiggle the connection and it fires right up. I've tried a zip tie before but it wouldn't hold. I'll have to figure a way to secure that one connector. It's the one closest to the firewall.

Likely it is not the actual connector but rather one of the pins that has wiggled open and no longer fits tightly. My suggestion is to find out which pin it is and replace it. Do this by using a loose mating pin and CAREFULLY [do not force or bend the pin receptacle] inserting it into each receptacle. You will feel the loose one easy enough.

Worse case get a new connector or cut an old one off a junker and splice it in as a replacement.
