Default The '99 is finally alive!!!

As you may know I bought a '99 D for $500 a couple of weeks ago. It was sitting on two slashed tires, the brake lines were rotted out, the power steering cooler was rotted out, and it wouldn't go into drive most of the time. (Yeah, I'm a glutten for punishment).

Well, two tires, a new ps cooler, new master cylinder and brake lines and a good used T case later...it's RUNNING!

I still have to find a way to force the ABS to cycle so I can finish bleeding the brakes. I ran down my little dirt road and slammed on the brakes, but no good. The D wouldn't kick in the ABS, but did stop and didn't lock the tires until it was almost stopped.

I'll try again in the morning when I'm not so tired. After that, it's time to start putting some money in other places...minor rust repairs, tune up, nerf bars, etc...etc...

well congratulations on your project. as far as the brakes go, not to sure? does it have drums in the rear or rotors? and for parts try rockauto.com and ebay. nerf bars are ok in my mind. but i took mine off, it helps with clerance. and it makes it look like its sitting a little higher off the ground. i would go with a front brush guard instead of the nerf bars also. brush guards make em look a little meaner.
good luck on the rest of your build!

If you want off road look then get some rock sliders and front and rear steel bumpers. Iron bull/road armor
