Default largest tire with T/S lift = 32" or go metric?

I'm coming due to replace my 31" tires and not sure if I want to stick with the 15" rims and go to a 32" tire or switch to 16" rims and go metric.

Hoping someone might offer suggestions based on experience - tire calculators including the Quick Converter in the sticky only go so far.

Measuring my spare 265/70-16 is 30.6" - bigger than the actual 29-1/2" of the 31" tires I'm running.

Here's the other sizes I checked with online calculator and the actual dimensions:

265/75-16 = 31.6 maybe a 32" equivalent?
275/70-16 = 31.2
285/70-16 = 31.7
285/75-16 = 32.8

The one 32" tire I was looking at mentioned the actual size was 31.8" overall.

Any thoughts?

Price wise 15s are cheaper than 16s. If your going for rims and tire combo go 17s there are more tires available. Taller is not the problem, the width gets you. I ran 33/12.50/15 with just torsion bars cranked. The narrower 10.5 or 11.5 would have worked better. I run 35/12.50/15 with 6" tuff country lift and fiberglass fenders. The lift is set up for 33s. 32/10.5/15 is good 11.5 might work. Most tire stores will help with test fit. At least if your dropping a grand or more they should.

I just did the T/S lift on my D and took it to discount today to be test fitted for tires. the 33x12.50 rubbed pretty good on the back of the wheel well, I decided to go with the BFG all-terrain 32x11.50x15, but you are correct it is only 31.8 not a true 32.

From what I have read on the forum with a T/S lift only the 32" size is going to be the max you want to go without rub or stress to other components. I have no plans for the 4-1/2" lift, 33"s or 3" body lift.

I guess the real question is what metric size is equivalent (or slightly larger) than the 32" that others have run without a problem?

Yikes! 35" tires with 3.55s and a 5.2L, I bet your rig really hates you.
