Default Rear Backing Plates

Does anyone know where to find rear backing plates for a 2003 Durango?

I purchased the Durango I posted about a month or so ago, but I can't seem to find backing plates anywhere, and without them I can't get the vehicle passed inspection.

I even tried the dealer but they tell me they are severely back-ordered and to call back in a month to see if the line has even moved!

Now are they severly rusted or just missing w/no brakes? If their sturdy enough try bringing it somewhere else. Replacing the rear plates requires full dissasembly of the axle and your talking $1200 +... Try searching up the backing plates online, get a part number, and cross reference it if you cant find anyone. Example, 05016612AA is my old backing plate, its on 40+ vehicles including a viper. Fill me in more, make model/rear axle?

2003 SLT+

The real axle has to be disassembled to repair the backing plates?

If the part is on so many vehicles, why would the dealer have such a hard-time getting the part? Seems strange.

I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I don't have drums. I have discs all around.

The Durango is in the garage at the moment, so I can't take any pictures. But if needed I can get some tomorrow.

I don't have the plate on the rear drivers side at all. This is the condition of the plate on the passenger side.

I've called dealers all across Canada, and all across the states. No one has any backing plates. So I called Crysler.

Crysler tells me 39 will be released on Nov. 2, 2012. Unfortunately they don't know where they will be released too, and even worse I'm No. 50 on the dealers list of hopefuls.

I'm not excactly sure where to go from here.

The part No. is 52010420AD, or so I'm told. It's the entire assembly because I'm told I can't buy just the plate.

Any insight to what I can do to get my Durango on the road would be greatly appreciated.

if the part is that unavailable, you might have to try to buy the disc brake conversion kit. yes its a little on the exspensive side. like $1,200. but they will be brand new. and taking the axle apart is a little tricky but not impossible. most ppl with mechanical apttitude can do it. so if it means letting your d sit for months and months it may be worth getting the kit.
