Default 01 Durango- Loud noise when driving

I am haing a problem, need some advice. When I accelerate the car it makes a loud humming, the faster I go the louder it is, so loud I can hear the radio. When I start coming down in speeds it quiets down. At a stop, no sound. WHAT IS HAPPENING??????

Welcome to DF

Have you tried to isolate the sound? Is it coming from the front end, the rear end or from the center of the vehicle? Front could be wheel bearing or the front diff, if you have a 4x4. The rear could be pinion or side carrier bearings and the center could be the large roller bearing in the overdrive unit. I will move you post to the 1st Gen Durango section.

Bad tires could make humming noises. We don't really have a whole lot to go on by your description.
