Unfortunately in most cases it is a difficult task. However if you want any lift at all, this and a body lift are the only options we have. Get some penetrating lube and start spraying it on heavy a week before you plan to do it. Start on a Saturday morning to give you time for hang ups. I'll almost guarantee your shackles are in better condition than mine were, and I started mine without even having any penetrating oil.

If you happen to conveniently have a press laying around, go right ahead. I didn't replace mine when I did my T/S lift, and replaced the F'd up bolts with all Grade 8 hardware.

i did the same thing tried cutting them off after my air chizel failed to do the job and i tried and tried to smack the leaf spring bushing out i even tried to torch out the cent and pry out the outside lip of the bushing but the torch wouldnt even melt the rubber out. i ended up straping the leafspring to the frame and had to drive it to my friends garrage where he used a small industrial jack hammer to beat out the bushings. and we used an insanely large c clamp to press in the new bushings.
good thing i had a friend with farm equiptment sized tools. lol.
and i ended up using grade 8 bolts as well.
and when we were at it i replaced my rear shocks to. with them i also used new grade 8 bolts. bought em all at "tractor supply" a local farm supply store. lol.
yes i live in the hills and no im not a red neck. well maybe. lol.
