Default pcm troubles

I have a problem/question and I hope someone can answer it or give some input.

My 2002 Durango is at the Chrysler dealer attempting to be fixed.. it has been there for four and a half weeks and counting. The problem is that every PCM they program and install only puts out 6 volts. The problem with that is the alternator wont turn on to charge the battery because of the low voltage output. The dealership has gone through 4 new computers and one used and all of them give a read out of 6 volts instead of 12. The service techs have been emailing back and forth with the Chrysler engineers but they cant figure out why the PCM's won't put out more than 6 volts. They thought that there could be a bad connection or a broken wire but they did an electrical load test which consists of putting an electrical load on the wires and looking for any voltage drops. Every part of the test came back good and they cant find any wire problems. So my big question is does anyone have an idea for what this could be? If anyone has had a similar problem or the same please tell me about it. thank you.

this is going to sound stupid to you probably, but how old is the battery? if its more than a couple years old just put a brand new one in and see what happens, a weak battery can cause all sorts of problems if the PCM isnt seeing the correct voltage

It doesn't sound stupid it's a good answer. Unfortunately I replaced it a year ago and i replaced the alternator. I was even thinking it could be a sensor of some sort but the dealership said they checked them.
