first generation Durango
Hi,
I have a 2000 durango with a shot rear. It's currently a 9.25 with 3.55 gears. I can get my hands on a 8.25 3.55 gear dakota rear. I know it needs new spring perches and shock mounts, but is the width the same?
I'm also not sure if the donor truck is 2wd/4wd. Does the width change between the two?
Thanks for the help!

I have a 99 durango 5.9 4x4 that the rear end is going out. I also have a 2000 durango 4.7 4x4 with a bad engine. They have different gear ratios. I swapped the front and rear differential over as well as the front and rear driveshafts. The cv axles mount differently onto the front differential so I had to swap those as well. truck drives fine straight, but the cv axles seem to be binding when I turn. I don't know if they are a little to long for the set up or what. So, my question is if anyone had ever encountered this and what the solution is. Will the control arms swap over and solve the problem or would that mess up the steering. The steering is different and doesn't look like it will swap over. Thanks for any guidance.

If it is 2wd i don't see an issue but, if its 4wd you will have to match the rear axle with the front axle in order to use 4x4 without very bad results.
