I thought I'd also add that my 99s build date is nov 98, so It wasn't a mid year change either
OP: check the connector in the wiring harness that is under the trim piece on the inside of the tailgate, it way be loose or disconnected
@that_guy...i didnt think to check any of the connections in the tailgate upper trim pc because they all looked in like new shape...but that doesnt mean something hasnt come loose....thnx for that suggestion. I got so dam frustrated with trying to figuere out the driving light problem that i had a brain fart when checking the 3rd brake light. ill keep u posted after checking them later today or sat. morning.Originally Posted by that_guy

so does that mean the ipf driving lights are wired in place of the fog lights? If this is the case the fog light relay in the pdc under the hood may have gone bad. you could try swapping it with another relay and see if they work then.Originally Posted by sp360d
hey shrpshtr325......yes i have the rotary style headlight ****...i knew about pulling the **** out for the fog lights. When theses shelbys were converted, the tuner companies diconnected the factory fog light wiring and rewired everything supplied with the ipf lights these came with. The wiring is professional looking, but i think the previous owner messed with the wiring inside the engine bay. i have a pic and will try to upload it now.

Pulled and checked the 3 bulbs inside the 3rd brake light on rear hatch...they looked good(not blown)but replaced them anyways. Checked brake light fuse and it was good(i assume their is'nt a seperate fuse for the 3rd brake light as i could not find one). SO..where do i go from here. Checked gen1 d forum and couldnt find a thread on this particular subject so started a new one. On side note...my shelbys ipf driving lights arent working either. Pulled the ipf lights apart, bulbs are good and fairly new it looks. Ive got power from the low beam connection splice behind the right headlight to the small relay box mounted on the inner right fender next to the battery. Relay has 4 wires out..1 to the black battery post(a ground) and 2 to the lights in the shelby front air dam. The 4th red wire goes from the relay to a screw which is mounted next to the relay box on the inner fender. I dont believe the shelbys had a seperate switch inside on the dash to control the ipf driving lights, i think they came on when the low beams were on and went out when the highs were activated. Bad relay box???Red wire from relay to fender is for what?????hope soemone can help on this as i have spent the last 2 days going thru every inch of the wiring for the ipf lights...i have found no bad connections, rusted wiring, etc....the wiring is in suprisingly good shape from when this shelby was built in 99 at the tuner company in ohio.
1st pic is the relay itself..2nd pic is of all the ipf driving light wiring....the thick white cable has the 4 wires from the 2 ipf lights. anyone able to help on this wiring mess and why my lights arent working. As you can see, 2 of the wires from inside the white sheething are the grounds from the 2 ipf lights, the other 2 wires from inside the white shething go to the relay. The wire with the red connector in background comes up from the right headlight and is a hot/power wire. It is the only wire that has power that i could find. advance auto had no relays like this, anyone have an idea where i could find one. The red wire on the left comes out from the relay and is just connected to the inner fender.?????????it makes no sense...the red wire has no power, but i believe its is a power wire that is supposed to lead from the relay to somewhere.....note/there is no switch inside my durango for that red wire. Hope you guys can help. These shelbys are wired differant, even my suspension is differant from all regular durangos.

@that_guy...i just went outside and checked all the connections(3)under that rear hatch trim panel and all is nice and snug....also no chaffing of wires against metal or anything like that......ill check the 3 connections in the morning with a test light, after that, i have no clue why that 3rd brake light isnt working. Also revisted my ipf driving light wiring problem and still cant figuere that out. Ill try and find a new relay in the morning and hope that is the problem....dam i hate electrical issues. Ck the 2 pics i added to my post of the relay and wiring near battery for the ipf driving lightsOriginally Posted by that_guy

..never trust that something new will work out the package...in my quest to solve my 3rd brake light issue i had gone thru all the possible fixes, new bulbs, ck fuses, ck connections(thnx that_guy), ck wiring...i found no problems. This morning i thought, let me try another set of new bulbs. Sure enough, i pulled out the new bulbs i put in 2 days ago(that didnt fix the problem either) and installed another set this morning...BINGO...3rd brake light worksOriginally Posted by sp360d

at least the brake light problem is taken care of. As for the relay you could try searching around on line for the same one (there might be a part number on it). If not you could probably find a replacement relay that will suit your needs, you might just have to change connectors or something.
UPDATE::...my IPF driving light problem turned out to be a bad FET tuning relay near the battery in the engine.I replaced with a radio shack branded relay(FET tuning no longer in buisness so could not replace with original equipment)and also added 2 fusible links to the wiring to protect my headlights and battery. The IPF lights now work in unison with my low beams/turn off with high beams....thnx that_guy for your input.
