Default 3rd brake light not working/99 shelby

I'm horrible at electrical issues so need some help....my 3rd brake light is not working. Pulled and checked the 3 bulbs inside the 3rd brake light on rear hatch...they looked good(not blown)but replaced them anyways. Checked brake light fuse and it was good(i assume their is'nt a seperate fuse for the 3rd brake light as i could not find one). SO..where do i go from here. Checked gen1 d forum and couldnt find a thread on this particular subject so started a new one. On side note...my shelbys ipf driving lights arent working either. Pulled the ipf lights apart, bulbs are good and fairly new it looks. Ive got power from the low beam connection splice behind the right headlight to the small relay box mounted on the inner right fender next to the battery. Relay has 4 wires out..1 to the black battery post(a ground) and 2 to the lights in the shelby front air dam. The 4th red wire goes from the relay to a screw which is mounted next to the relay box on the inner fender. I dont believe the shelbys had a seperate switch inside on the dash to control the ipf driving lights, i think they came on when the low beams were on and went out when the highs were activated. Bad relay box???Red wire from relay to fender is for what?????hope soemone can help on this as i have spent the last 2 days going thru every inch of the wiring for the ipf lights...i have found no bad connections, rusted wiring, etc....the wiring is in suprisingly good shape from when this shelby was built in 99 at the tuner company in ohio.

what does your headlight switch look like? if its a plunger style there should be another switch for the fog lights (i think these are what you are referring to, mounted in the lower front bumper)

if you have a rotary switch (3 postions, off, corners, headlights) then you need to pull out on the **** to turn on the fog lights

1) you are wrong, i test drove a 99 w/ the plunger
2) even if you were right the shelbys are their own animal, different in many ways, so that generalization can not be applied to them

then why does my 99 have a rotary, along with my buddy's 99 and my uncle's 99 dakota?

I thought I'd also add that my 99s build date is nov 98, so It wasn't a mid year change either

OP: check the connector in the wiring harness that is under the trim piece on the inside of the tailgate, it way be loose or disconnected

it is possible that the design intent was to use the rotary switch for all of them, however like i said i have test driven one with the plunger, which leads me to believe (if the intent was to use the rotary switch) that they had leftovers of the other which they had to use up.

That could be the case, and would make sense, but if you look up the part number in the service manual for the 99 or online you get the rotary switch. Who knows?

Anyway, let's not start world war 3 over a headlight switch

Of course the part number is gonna be for the rotary switch in the service manual because that was what was intended/commonly used.

The 99 with the plunger style is rare but, i know there are a few that exist because i have seen them for myself also

hey shrpshtr325......yes i have the rotary style headlight ****...i knew about pulling the **** out for the fog lights. When theses shelbys were converted, the tuner companies diconnected the factory fog light wiring and rewired everything supplied with the ipf lights these came with. The wiring is professional looking, but i think the previous owner messed with the wiring inside the engine bay. i have a pic and will try to upload it now.
