Default Need Help 99 D wont start or stay running

Hey all, I have a 99, 5.9 - have searched the internet for this issue and have had zero luck resolving. It started when the battery went dead, replaced it the D ran perfect for about a week, then started spitting and sputtering again, have to always give it throttle to go. Replaced the AIC, reset the computer, the code P0505 still coming up with check engine light, D ran good for about 3 or 4 days. We had to move 1800 miles, i bought a higher end battery, ran fuel system cleaner through and reset the computer again. Ran all 1800 miles NOT one problem, it took us 4 days. Got up in the am to go to the store wouldnt start and run again. I installed a TPS (hunch) reset computer, truck started 10-15 times without a hitch, and NO check engine light, next morning wont start, check engine light is back. Now it doesnt start at all unless mashing the throttle as soon as I let off it dies. I am fed up and have no clue what it could be, buts its worse than ever. i have an o2 sensor on the front of the CAT that has been melted a little from laying on the exhaust. Would that contribute to this? I read there is no fuel filter that can be changed? Thanks in advance.

When mine did this it was a bad battery. Not much help but it sounds exactly like that.

+1 cummingetit. That is exactly what low idle stumble nearly always is as is already covered in 100s of threads online.

If you replaced your battery before and it got better have you had your alternator load tested to see if its puting out the correct voltage. Could be is not charging well and causing your problem? Just a guess.

Thanks for the responses, I have had the alternator tested at a couple different facilities and they said it is good, that's why I upgraded the battery to the best I could get from AutoZone.

Last night I reset the computer, checked the harness around the PCM, ( nothing looked melted or damaged) was able to get the D to fire by holding the gas down, then it started running fine, but making a very loud "air sucking" noise when gas was applied very loud, then it stopped and the D start up just fine. I didnt get a chance to check it this am. Just very odd. I never heard anything like that before,

Was the air hat off or the filter open?

The air cleaner top was off, but this noise was very unusual and after 2 or 3 minutes of idling it stopped and sounded normal.
