Default Need new headlight housings again!

Hey folks, I just recently learned that the Spyder Euro headlight housings can't withstand the heat from my Silverstar bulbs. The inside of the housing is melting where that little light cap that reflects the light back into the housing goes. I want to reinstall the ugly OEM housings to get my quality light pattern back. I will begin looking for a set of housings that don't suck.

I am now considering the 2pc Depo clear housings w/ clear corners. Any suggestions you folks may have would be greatly appreciated! I really love the look of the 1pc units though and I don't want any of that ugly LED stuff.

people seem to like the eagle eye ones in terms of look and performance. They do have a few leds on them, but they don't look ridiculous or anything, or you could just leave them disconnected.

I bought the clean headlight lens only. I don't have the clear turn signal housing as part of the headhight housing. I have silver stars and so far, it has not messed up my housing and I have the clear lens for about 4-5 years now since the swap and still clear as a whistle.

Well yeah but then that's leaving half of the turn signal disconnected. Doesn't seem like a very logical solution to a problem that i don't even want.

I said if you didn't want the leds you could just leave them disconnected. It wasn't a solution, it was a suggestion. I don't think they're ugly at all compared to other aftermarket setups. Our trucks already have twice as many turn signals on the front than most vehicles have so it wouldn't really be that big of a deal anyway.

I do like those, however i'm looking for more of a chrome style. I found a set of them on eBay from 1A Auto and they were $170.

you could always install some hid projectors in the housings you already have. The projectors would probably cover up the melted plastic, and you'd have excellent light.

I've tried to educate myself on all the wiring associated with HIDs and I find it to be complicated. I am by no means an electrial wizard.

The wiring actually isn't difficult at all. It's plug and play other than the connection to the battery. The relay harness connects to the battery, then plugs into the stock headlight socket to trigger the relay. The ballast connects to the relay harness and then to the bulb. The harness also has another connector that goes to the solenoid for the bi-xenon on the projector. The only connections I made without connectors were the + and - wires to the battery.
