Overheating problems..
Alright, I used to be a member here, I was in the 2nd gen ram form. Well the truck was sold and now ive got a family started so I went and found a nice '00 dodge durango 5.2 2wd for 1200. I had to install a new rad and a new rad fan off the bat, I was in a rush and didnt have the money for a oem replacement and a new rad too. so I bought a used rad for 75$ and a new 14" fan for it from autozone. I am now overheating at stops and im starting to get concered on weather the 14" 1100 cfm fan is big enough for the 318 engine. Someone please help me. Im stumped. New parts within the last year:
Water pump
thermostat
rad
e-fan
heater core.
Thanks,
Cheat.

I can't answer that for you but hang in there an somebody will read ya pos when they can an try to help ya,, I know that I wouldn't put anything but the same size on so it will give the right air flow, I would feel that if it's overheaten a lil when at stops then I would go back to what size it came with or maybe you could put a tran's cooler in front an that would help if you don't have one,, But thats just my say so,,,,
What Degree stat did you put in? My 99 5.9 had over heating problems. Put in a brand new water pump, rad, Trans cooler and electric fan. Still had it. Checked my t stat and advanced auto had given me a 195 degree stat instead of a180. Swapped the t stat for the 180 and moved my fan closer to the lower hose (bottom passenger side) and so far have let it idle for 35 mins with no hint of over heating. I couldn't believe the diffrence 15 degrees made!

the 195 deg stat is the stock stat
personally if its only overheating at idle i would lean towards you getting a faulty fan clutch, however being that you put a used radiator in that would also be very high on my list of items to check

1100cfm isn't enough to cool the engine on its own. I swapped in a taurus fan to replace the clutch fan on mine and it's 3750cfm on high speed and around 2000cfm on low speed. Unless I have the a/c on the low speed is enough to cool it. If you still have the clutch fan on it too the clutch is probably no good like shrp said. I also have a 180 degree t-stat.
It is the stock stat, but mine runs better with 180

yes on the 5.2 and 5.9 the 180 is a good swap, i know this, i was just saying that the 195 was not the wrong unit if thats what he got
to keep the record straight on this the 4.7 does NOT like a 180 stat and is best left at 195
