Update. It appears as though the Rod that adjusts the flap for the defroster is flexing instead of sliding through the grooves like its made to. Held a screw driver against it and it spun right into position. Not sure where to go from here. To cold and tired to carry on today

Was your heat working properly or only when you were on the gas?

It worked fine at any rpm, didn't you say you were having a problem getting air from your defroster as well? When i only got hot air when on the gas it was because i had air in the system. I also changed the water pump around the time i discovered how to burp the air so it could have been a mixture of both of those things that fixed that problem.

I thought it was just cold air coming from the defroster and heat coming from the vents, but I was wrong.. Cool air comes from everything unless I'm driving. When I am on the interstate the D can actually warm up, while idling it gets rather cool.

So if I understand this last post, while idling the engine operating temperature will drop? If so, what is the temperature while driving VS idling?

The temperature gauge itself seems pretty steady.. 210 is in the middle, but it is just shy of that.. I would say 180-190 which makes sense since it is a 190 degree thermostat. I feel like it has to be opening up because the engine doesn't overheat. I just can't understand why it won't blow out warm air unless I'm driving.

I'm gonna say try to burp it one more time, if that doesn't work?? Possibly back flush the heater core? Those 2 are the most simple and cheap. Last resort could be a weak water pump? But if it was weak you'd think you would over heat after a while?
