2000 Durang RT+LSD+Low Lock=3WD?
Howdy folks,
I'm new to Durangos, but not 4WD. I've been rattling around in a 96 Cherokee for years.
I understand the PT 4WD of the Cherokee--without locking diffs, one wheel at the front and one at the back have power.
My RT has a LSD in the rear and independent front suspension, not a solid axle with a diff like a Jeep, so my question is this:
In Low Locked, this means the driveshafts of the transfer care are locked together, right? So I'm guessing this means with a LSD in the rear, both rear tires are locked together, and in the front only one of the front wheels has power, hence my "3WD" description.
Any and all clarification would be appreciated,
Heekma

when you have traction you have power going to all 4 tires when the 4x4 is engaged, you only loose drive wheels when you loose traction at one of them, still technically 4wd, even with a LSD you could still spin one of the rear wheels under the wrong conditions
rts are awd, which behaves similarly to having an open differential in the center linking the driveshafts, 4hi and 4lo both lock the front and rear driveshafts together.
