Red face 2002 4.7 to hemi?

trying to decide what year hemi, and also 5.7 or 6.1 would the best fit i have 5 weeks to build it and just started. i'm building the truck for my wife. i bought 2 durangos 1 1999 4x2 and 2002 4x2. 02 in perfect shape minus interior wrong color and has blown 4.7l engine. 99 has black leather interior. plan on swapping interior from 99 to 02. it will be mint when i get done. 12 year auto tech i worked for dodge for 2 years. my passion is dodges. i heard first year hemi had some valve issues. i was thinking 05 or 06 hemi and trans. i've read some forums about entire harness swaps. can an 2005 complete durango 4x2 harness work in a 2002 durango? when i finish and turn key i would like it to start. lol

Simple answer this is a very involved custom swap. Also the interior swap may be a little challenging. Should line up but fitment may be different looking. The hemi swap will be a bit more difficult. If you do it you should report back on how it went.

Well started today with swap. 29 day until i have to be finished. Decided to go with 2006 hemi and 545rfe trans. Found a place local to build the harness to need to plug and play. I have a 5.7 hemi im borrowing to set in to make my mounts. And figure out if im going to have to fabricate the oil pan also. will let u know more as i go along.

i hope you didnt buy the tranny because the 45 and 545 are the exact same hardware, the only difference is the controller program

There's another guy on here that's currently working on hemi swap too. Maybe you two could share info with each other and help each other out.

I remember seeing someone that swapped a 6.1 into a Durango a year or two ago. The guy called it the Durango SRT8, so it's definitely possible to do the 6.1 too.

Only reason i chose 545 trans is rebuild for 45rfe was around 2200 to 2500. It had 160000 miles. And i can get 545 for 1500 with 2300 miles on it. Lol i went with the most cost effective.
