Default a couple questions

hi guys. i have a 98 durango and a 2003 for parts. i am wondering if the steering knuckle are interchangeable. my 98 has the holes where the calipers bolts into stripped out and i want to change the knuckle but not sure if everything is the same. they do look very simular.

also i took the rear wiper motor from the 03 and put it in my 98. one has a 3 wire connectrion and the other has a 4 wire. i wired it up just using the pos and neg but it dont keep the right stop point. how can i do this right? i am guessing one wire controls where the motor stops?

thanks in advance.

Durangos are notorious for the striped bolt holes. I have all of the holes filled with heli-coils.

the 2003 uses alot of different parts from the 98, including many of the driveline parts, and they are not compatible,

the steering knuckle is definitely NOT compatible since the brake calipers mount to it and the calipers changed in 2003

in order to make them work you would have to swap over a LOT of parts, some of which cannot be reused (including the balljoints, tie rod ends, and a few others)

the cheapest and easiest option is to put in the helicoil kit (basically put new threads into the existing holes

ok, where do you get helicoils? i guess you would have to drill out the holes to a certain size to accept the helicoil? and i guess i could get them to match the thread of the caliper pins?

you can buy the kit from any dodge dealer or auto parts store, its a pretty common issue to damage those threads, the process is simple in practice, however you need to be very careful to keep the new holes concentric (centered the same) as the old ones as well as on the correct angle
