All right, it has been a while since I was on here, but I am perplexed by a new and somewhat frequently occuring issue with my 99 Durango. I had been having vacuum issues, and spongy brakes, a new PCV valve, and plastic elbow on the drivers side valve cover, it was doing great. Today my wife calls me and states that the fuel gauge dumped, and she lost brakes momentarily and nearly rear ended someone. The fuel gauge has issues, usually after filling up the tank, after about 50 miles or so, it quits, but the brake issue...I am unsure. I just replaced, calipers, rotors, pads, shoes, wheel cylinders, drums, both brake rubber lines, I bled the entire system, it has all fresh brake fluid now. I have a vacuum bleeder so I know there wasn't any air in the lines, but why would the fuel gauge and the brakes have anything to do with each other? My only other concern would be the brake booster, but we had just driven it round trip about 100 miles, and it was perfect...the fuel gauge acted up after I filled the tank.

Ideas anyone?

define lost brakes, did the pedal go to the floor, or did you loose the power assist? two different ways to 'loose brakes' with two completely different diagnostic paths
