Default Middle Seat Ceiling Vent

Hello all, I just recently acquired a 98 Durango and had a quick question.

If I have the heater on in the front, it is blazing hot and the center console has the vent that blows toward the back seat which is also blowing very hot....but the vent on the ceiling when turned on only blows ice cold.

Keep in mind, it doesn't have rear a/c or heat settings, just a **** for turning on the vent speed.

My question is, is this normal? Is this vent tied into the regular HVAC or is it just a blower to help circulate air? Granted, it'll be fine in the summer blowing cold air, but for these winter months blowing cold air at my kids in the back seat isn't exactly ideal. lol

Thanks for any info you can share!

It should blow cold...its part of the AC. Nothing to do with heat.

that's very strange that it works that way, but thanks for the reply!

I guess at least there is the vent in-between the seats that blow at the kids.

It does have rear AC, that is the vent on the roof. The driver just does not have control. It is controled by the **** next to the vent on the roof. The only rear heat is the vents coming out of the center consol. There should be a **** thaty has three positions, off, top and bottom I think.
