Default Oil Pressure gauge problem mabe more.

I have a 2001 dodge Durango with 128+ miles. The oil pressure gauge kept going from low to 1 quarter and the check gauges light would come on and go off. I took it to Autozone to check the the codes and the said it the only code was p500 speed sensor which I already knew about. It was about 2 quarts low on oil so I topped it off. On the way home the gauge went to low & did not come up. I parked the truck. Later my wife went to pick up the kids with the truck when she got back the truck was making a knocking noise. I was taking it to the shop in the morning. Am I out of luck or is there a chance it is not that bad. What could be wrong.

At first I would have recommended to install a mechanical gauge. But if it is knocking now it will probably be a rebuild.

How much does a typical engine rebuild cost?

if you put a mechanical gauge in ONLY use a break line tubing. there i a new tubing, called niopp. i have not used it but the specs are very good. DO NOT use anything eles.
