Default Rebuilt PCM

i have a 2003 durango, and i believe my pcm has gone bad, car is stuck in limp in mode, wont change gears. i went to a local junkyard and pulled an identical PCM off another durango same part number and installed it, truck started up but shut down automatically so im taking that one back, i have read about an online store that sells rebuilt PCMs (solo pcms) does anyone have any experience with these or has used them? because i called the dealership and the tech there guaranteed me i would have problems with a rebuilt pcm and would end up having to buy a mopar pcm 1200 for parts labor and programing. help would be greatly appreciated.

the PCM needs to be programmed to your truck in order to work, there are a few companies ou thtere that sell refubished PCMs, and many people have had good experiences with them (i havnt h ad a need to buy one myself)

It's hit or miss with the internet aftermarket rbuilts, but the price Mopar is trying to charge for those older PCMs is absolutely stupid. What, was it like $950 just for the PCM ?

The dealer doesn't rebuild them. There is a Chrysler reman facility that services all of the dealer network. It's also Chrysler's price. Good luck.
