Default 98' Durango 5.2 speedomiter problem

I have a speedometer problem that has me baffled. Most of the time it will not work, but when it rains or is damp out it will work but not properly. When it dose work it will only register half the speed I am going till I get above 70kph(40mph) and if I hit a bump it will bounce back to 0 the pick back up. I have a Obd2 computer and the engine code that is on is the speed sensor. I have replaced it but with no luck. Any ideas out there in Dodge land????

witch speed sensor did you replace?? your truck has 2 one on the side of the transmission and one on the rear axle... both are prone to fail, it is recommended to replace them as a pair..

Being that it works sometimes when wet i would say there is either a bad connection or a bad sensor or both.. The speed sensor on the axle is where the signal for the speedometer comes from... good luck and keep us posted!

defintely dont spend money on a clust right now, since the problem is weather related it is clearly related to water getting into one of the control circuits

Got the sensor today but am unable to install it right now. Going to have to hold off for a week.

Tell me this tho.. Why is it at Dodge this sensor is $75 and at NAPA and CARQUEST it is about $110, Then a starter (another job I need to do) at Dodge is $220 when at NAPA and CARQUEST there $150?
