Default Trans Problems.

Alright, I'm new to this section of the forum, I did have a 2nd gen Ram. But it got sold and now I've got a kid on the way and decided I should get a family vehicle. So I bought my dads 1st gen durango, 2wd, 5.2L. I stole it for a smooth $1200. Ever since he had it its always had this small problem. You can take off, WOT. All the way to about 5200prm or so, Then it "unlocks". That's what it feels like. It falls on its face and the rpms go up still. All the way to the rev limiter, unless I let up some. Then it will shift, You can get back into it some, But if you do to much it will kick back down and try to rev up. All gears are working, I know there not going out, pulls hard untill this problem. Also when I go and do a steady 90% throttle pull in 2nd or 3rd it can sometimes seem to pop outa gear. for no reason. you can also let up and it will shift again. I hope to hear some solutions.
Thanks,
Cheat.

dude, give it a couple of days, especially on a holiday weekend we are not sitting around waiting to answer your questions, so my question to you is when was the trans serviced last? fluid and filter changed and the bands adjusted?

I think that is the 45RE trans. I have a 46RE trans with a 5.9. There is a known problem in mine where the governor solenoid is over powered and WOT in 1st gear. When it's time to go into 2nd and the solenoid energizes to close the valve, the fluid pressure does not allow it to close, so it stays in 1st gear until you let off a bit and the pressure drops so the valve can close. The fix is using a stronger solenoid. I got a Borg Warner one that cured the problem. I don't know if the 45RE has that issue, but my info was correct for me.

there is no 45re, you have a typo there, you meant either 44re or 45rFe since the OP has the 5.2 im assuming you mean the 44re . . .

Yeah, I knew someone here would correct that. I'm the guy that corrects everyone over on JeepForum, so here it's my turn.

I have a video of the problem, But. I noticed yesterday it did it in 2nd for the first time. Not sure whats going on but here you go.

It happens around 11 seconds. You can kinda hear it "unlock" to try to shift and it just redlines.
