Mine had 265/70 R16s and I went down to a 235/85 R16 E for winter purposes. I got my tires from Walmart, they have them in 265 70 R16 as well but are Goodyear Wrangler Authority A/Ts. I have had absolutely no problems with them, and haven't got stuck in any snow or mud yet.

On a similar note, I'm also getting new tires for my 2002 Durango, 2WD. The listed tire size inside the door is 225/75/R15XL. I dont know what the XL means. The tires currently on the Durango are 255/65R16. I'm looking for some offroad tires, but I'm having trouble finding some that fit the stock rims, but i think its just my misunderstanding of tire sizes. Anyways, do y'all have any suggestions for offroad tires?

You want purely offroad tires? You won't ever be doing anything on road?

I will still be on the road the majority of the time, I just want some tires that are better than my touring tires offroad, so I guess the right name is 'All Terrain.'

For $750 those Wal-Mart Goodyear Wrangler Authority All-Terrains are damn good tires. I just looked last night and they have them in 265/75R16 and 235/85R16. They're a pretty aggressive tire, so they like to pick up little rocks and such, but as I said, they are excellet in Mud and Snow and have good on road performance as well.

I got my Cooper AT/3 (265/75/16) for $712. Love them so far. Roughly 20k on them so far and havent had troubles on or off road.

I will put in my 2 cents. You should also check out BFG All Terrain tires. They are one of the best tires for on/off road. Very quiet and comfortable ride and they last a long time. About 60k with normal driving.

Last I looked at BFGs I thought they were like $1200.

If you have a Discount Tire near you, go with Cooper ATP, $120 a tire, so $480 plus tax. Aggressive high milage tire.

Do you have experience with this tire? It's easy to spend other peoples money, but personal experience is extremely helpful when talking tires.
