Default 2002 durango 4x4 needs new tires

So I bought my Durango in June of 2012 and its been a great SUV for the most part some odds and ends needed to be fixed but thats normal.
So I am in need of new tires for it but the current tires that are on are not stock and I have called around my area to see what tire size I need to put on and got more than one answer.
So my question is what is the stock tire size for a 2002 Durango 4x4
right now I have a 245/70/16 on there. but I need a positive answer on what should be on their thanks in advance for your help

If you get a build sheet from the dealer it will tell you what it shipped with as for tires. I think it also might say on the driver door sill sticker. There were a couple sizes that could be ordered with it from the factory.

The sticker on mine reads 15" wheels, yet mine came with 16's.

Ok so I read the door and it says that I should have 265/70/16 does that sound about right. like I said above I called alot of tire places and they all gave me different sizes which included 15" and when I asked about 16" they told me that they had to look it up and I never got a call back from a couple of them. so am i safe by having the 245/70/16 on there right now or is it hurting my odometer and speedometer.
Plus to add I called to dodge dealership were i live and they told me they couldnt get the build sheet becuase its to old of a vehicle. I think they are full of sh*t but I tried that first.
thanks for yalls help.

If you indeed have 245 currently, and planning on getting replacements. go back to 265's. Wider tires will give you more stability on the road.

245 is the width of tire
70 is the height of the tire from the outter tire rim.
16 in the width of the tire rim.

as long as you do not change the 70 or 16 aspect of the tire, your speed and odometer will not be affected.

most of my durango 4x4 buddies have the 265/70/16 as stock. Kinda odd that you got a narrower tire on a 4x4 vehicle.

yeah i dont know why the person who owned it before put such a skinny tire on there but I couldnt read my door tag to find out what tire to put on there and like i said above i got the run around from the tire places around my area.

I would like to add to that:

in a tire size such as 245/70R16

-245 is the width in mm
-70 is the ascpect ratio of the sidewall meaning the sidewall is 70% of the width of the tread (240 here) so by taking .70*245 you get a sidewall of 171.5mm
-R16 denotes the rim size

for a 265/70R16

-265mm tread
-185.5mm sidewall (.70*265)
-16 inch rim

so, "tread"/"sidewall ratio"R"rim size"

yup matt nailed it, the 70 is the ratio of the tire sidewall height to the width, not the actual height
