Antifreeze leaking on the carpet!
I have a 1999 dodge durango slt 4x4 with the 5.2L v8
I had been smelling antifreeze while driving it and the heat wasnt working that great, I got in it and there was antifreeze all over the passenger side floor mat.
I guess this weekend I will be doing a heater core replacement.
Does anyone have any tips on getting it out, I know the dashboard, and controls will have to come out, and the steering columb will need to drop down.
Anyone know how long of a job it is and will I need any special tools before I start tearing into it.
Thanks
Chris

You're in for a rough job if you've never done one before. Basically, the entire dash has to be slid back into the cabin and pulled out the door.
I have seen guys remove the seats so the dash can stay in the truck...but you're still going to have to pull it far enough away from the firewall to get it broken up to get to the core. Column has to come down as you mentioned. Basic fasteners hold it to the kick panels, and to the firewall. The air bag is something to be careful about. The heater hoses have to be disconnected. Don't forget the shift indicator cable before dropping the column. Air ducts will be a pain. I think you'll have to disconnect the A/C lines too...which means it'll have to be sucked and filled too when you're all done.
