Default Good ole' P0441/stutter on acceleration

Hey guys/gals:

02 Durango 4.7 V8

I've done quite a bit of research on the P0441 including this forum. I am able to work on my own vehicles if it's minor for the most part (spark plugs, change my own tranny fluid etc), and the P0441 has been a recurring issue for 6 months now. I checked all the hoses and it all looked fine.

Took it to a mechanic who smoke tested it and found no leaks. He replaced the canister because that's what he thought was the issue and told me "honestly I am not 100% sure since the hoses look fine, no smoke leaks etc." Well it came back. Replaced the gas cap and cleared. Came back. I am going nuts.

Normally I wouldn't care that much BUT I am also having an issue where when the engine is cold, after I pull out of my parking space, stop at the first stop, and then go to accelerate the engine stutters on acceleration and I have to push on the gas to "power through it." It doesn't do this for the duration of the drive, it only happens on the first real acceleration if that makes sense? Can an evap issue cause this?

Also - what can cause a lack of engine power? When the engine is cold it seems to take more gas to get it going and it's quite a bit louder. Is this normal? Thanks ya'll!

The louder and taking more gas is most likely the fan clutch being engaged until the engine warms up some.

Yea, that's kind of what I figured. It sounded like a fan/alot of air moving. Thanks!
