Default Trans question

Just got this Durango and I have receipts to show the trans was rebuilt a week ago. My question is, would the trans filter cause it to not want to shift properly into neutral and reverse?

Check your neutral control switch first make sure the wires aren't bad or broken and causing it to arc. But mainly. If the tranny was rebuilt its probably due to build up of metalic dust and flakes in the fluid clogging up either the filter or the governor pressure solenoid and possibly the switch. If it was rebuilt recently its a good idea to flush out the old fluid and replace it some good fluid and do a filter gasket kit replacement. And... adjust the band's while you have the tranny pan off. Check the pressure solenoid for debris inside the end of it. If it has metallic flakes in it then that's probably what's causing it not to shift properly. I'm not to sure exactly on the torque specs tho. You will have to look it up.

Do you know what transmission you have first of all? Meaning is it a 545RFE or a 46RE transmission. And what type of problem are you having?

its the 46RE trans, and it its dropping into the gear but in neutral is doesnt roll and in reverse it wont actually let me move. but 1, 2, and drive work fine, except for the fact that none of the gears align with the dash readings except park and 1st and they are the far opposites
