As long as the truck you buy was kept up and taken care and you continue to do so these trucks are almost bullet proof. I know of many that are still on the road with 300,000+ miles are them. There are also several of these trucks owned by my family and friends, everyone of them loves there truck.

When you get your truck, what i would do is ...

1. Change all the fluids and filters (oil, trans, transfer case, differentials, ect)

2. New cap and rotor (5.2L,5.9L)

3. New Plugs and wires - Cheapo champion copper cores work the best but, others have had luck with the Autolites and the irodium plugs.

4. Cooling system flushed and refiled

5. New PCV valve and a good air filter (K&N or something like it)

With that you should be good for a good while. I personally do all of the above with every new vehicle i get no matter when the seller/dealer told me they where done last.

Yeah, just keep up with the maintenance and everything will be fine.

I agree with everything but the coolant flush. Change it, don't flush it unless you have a reason. I have had too many old vehicles that I flushed the coolant trying to do the "right" thing only to be changing the heater core shortly after. Pull the Radiator cap and look in the radiator. That will tell you how it has been maintained and if a flush is needed. And if you have over 100,000 miles and dump in the "Prestone flush" to break things up, odds are a heater core is most assuredly in your near future.
