Well I got the D fired up tonight and when it was shifted into either reverse or drive there was the horrible grinding sound again. But it shifted just fine when it was placed in 4PT or 4FT... I am at a loss the only thing I can think of is the front diff or the trans is effed again....

Are you sure it's shifting all the way into 2wd? It's possible that the lever could be being blocked by something causing it to be partially engaging 4wd.

Disconnect the shifter linkage from the transfer case and manually shift the lever on the side of it all the way into 2wd and see if that does anything. Since it doesn't make noise in 4wd I'm leaning towards the transfer case or front driveline and not the transmission.

Yes both at the same interval. I was using ram and Bosch back then. Now I use Bosch and Puralator.

I would remove the tail housing (rear) from the T-case and check the output shaft lock snap ring. The NV231 is notorious for slipping off and yours is built on the same type platform. You can replace them but I had to get it from a local tractor supply company because of the size.

Hey guys. Just tried driving it in the parking lot and if i set it into gear after putting it in 4wd there was no noise but shortly after moving it started up. It started acting up in 4FT and was ok in 4PT. Is there a way to load a sound file here for you guys to hear the sound its making in 2wd?
