Post ABS Brake Light Both ON

I hunted around the forum and put a new rear wheel speed sensor in and it didn't fix my problem. My speedo works fine at all speeds. I did go on a gravel road the other day and found out my abs is not working, no pulse in the pedal just locked up. Not sure where to go from hear ? abs module or the unit itself. My truck is a 2001 5.9 RT. Thanks in advance.

I believe if you are not on a solid surface then your abs will not kick in. Try to test while on pavement.

The abs isn't going to stop working just because you're on a loose surface, it might not work as well, but it will still attempt to work. Since you have and R/T model I'm guessing you have 4 wheel abs and not just rear abs, which I'm not familiar with. You could check the fuse under the hood and the wiring connections to the abs unit. Did you check the speed sensors on the front wheels?

heres the obvious one IMO, did you replace the output speed sensor on the transmission? it is on the same monitoring circuit as the rwspeed sensor and either one going out will cause the light, and they typically go out together

I had the same problem with my 01 RT and the sensors did not help. I ended up finding the abs control module on ebay for $80 with #'s that match exactly, did a daily search for over a month before one came up. Some people have had luck trying a rebuild service for the module but the company that I sent mine to tried twice with no success.

Modulemaster.com rebuilt my module for $130 plus shipping. Not sure if thats your problem, but I have the 01 R/T with AWAL as well

I own a 2002 Durango SLT 4.7L and resently had the ABS lights come on and the remedy was the electronic sensor within the front wheel bearings. After being replaced lights went out and everything is now fine
