Default 99 Durango Computer Chip

Evening to all the MOPAR Experts and enthusiast on the Forum. I have a 1999 Durango, SLT 4X4, Magnum 5.2L (318) engine. I absolutely love the truck, and have had only the normal maintenance issues, and minor complaints. All in all, the truck has been a work horse, and does everything I ask of her. I look at the newer vehicles, and although Gas mileage may be a consideration, I really have a place in my heart for the Durango. She looks, acts, and drives like the beast she is.

Ok, enough gushing... to the question. What after market computers are available to help tune the Durango for better fuel economy, and then greater horsepower and torque when you need it. Also would you recommend a add-on transmission cooler, or just stay with the embedded radiator cooler.

Thanks,

Pat

Superchips sells a tuner for our trucks. I think Bullydog does too.

As for the add on tranny cooler, do you do lots of towing with it? Or hard-on-the-tranny applications? Either way, an add on tranny cooler never hurts. It's just on if you are willing to spend the money and take the time to install it.

Whatever you choose, just do not purchase those so called piggy back chips. They do not work in the long term as the PCM will eventually adjust and override the performance settings of the chip.

Just stick with a programmer tuner such as superchips, hypertech, bullydog, SCT's, etc... Or you can purchase a PCM replacement with the custom programming already on it taylored for your truck.
