Default cb whip 2000 durango

Just put a whip on my rear bumper, I drilled a hole through the plastic and through the metal bumper mount, is that metal not adequate ground? I'm not even getting static out of my cb at all

Are you using an accual antenna stud? did you use the nylon washers to keep the center of the stud from touching metal? By the little info that you gave sounds like a short issue.

a pic would help me better tell you whats wrong. I will say from my personal experiances and tests, our truck are a beotch to get a good SWR on... only places i have had luck with are a fender mount in the front or puck the roof.

The nylon washer wouldn't fit with the stud I was given, it was too short so I threw it out. I have no experience with cbs so my buddy said it should work the way it is. I'm just going to try running a ground wrote from the antenna and see what happens
